IN LOVING MEMORY OF

Minnie Rizl

Murallon

December 30, 1971 – January 30, 2026

Obituary

In the quiet early hours of January 30, 2026, the world felt a little dimmer with the passing of Minnie Rizl Murallon, a remarkable woman whose life was shaped by devotion, compassion, and an instinctive care for others. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her loving husband and children at her bedside, held in comfort and care.

Minnie Rizl was born on December 30, 1971, in San Pablo City, Philippines, and immigrated to the Bay Area at the age of nine. From an early age, she carried a resilience and warmth that would define how she moved through the world and how deeply she connected with those around her.

While living in San Jose, California, Minnie met the love of her life, Eric Murallon, at Independence High School. Their relationship began in 1989, rooted in friendship and affection, and grew into a lifelong partnership. They married on June 8, 1991, and welcomed their first child on October 8 of that same year — marking the start of a life centered on family.

Minnie had a presence that was immediately felt. She brought reassurance in difficult moments and lightness in joyful ones, with a laugh that lingered and a kindness that left a lasting impression. She was deeply devoted to her family, embracing her roles as a daughter, sister, cousin, auntie/tita, wife, and mother with wholehearted dedication. She created a home that was open and inviting — a place where people gathered, stayed, and felt cared for.

Her greatest pride was her children: Michael Erickson, Rizelle Azzia, and Liam Chaze. Though she became a mother at a young age, Minnie seemed to understand motherhood intuitively. She often said, “Mom knows everything,” and those who knew her believed it. She had an uncanny ability to sense when something was wrong, to remember the smallest details mentioned in passing, and to show up with exactly what was needed, often before it was asked for.

With all three of her children, Minnie was very involved in their schooling. She was often the class mom—the reliable, generous presence behind the scenes, just as frequent the cool mom on field trips—the one kids gravitated toward. Teachers and classmates alike felt her warmth and enthusiasm, and her involvement reflected how fully she showed up for her children in every season of their lives. The compassion, strength, and generosity she modeled continue to live on through them.

Minnie worked tirelessly, whether or not her efforts came with a title or a paycheck. She filled countless roles each day—alarm clock, cook, handyman, chauffeur, event planner, caretaker, protector—without ever seeking recognition. Her energy was constant and selfless. Holidays were always decorated, birthdays never forgotten, and everyone who entered her home was welcomed and fed. Even when resources were limited, Minnie gave freely, always rounding up to donate or offering help whenever she could. To her, caring for others was second nature.

Food was one of the clearest expressions of Minnie’s love. A true “iron chef” in the kitchen — she could transform any ingredients into meals bursting with flavor, turning everyday dinners into moments of connection. Her kitchen was a gathering place, just as she herself was. She also knew how to celebrate—loving '80s music, dancing freely, and enjoying date nights with Eric, often accompanied by a glass of Honey Jack Daniels and plenty of jokes.

Creative and deeply intuitive, Minnie was attuned with her body and spirit. She practiced yoga, loved swimming, and favored airy dresses with pockets that moved easily with her. Her signature eucalyptus and alcohol room spray filled her space with calm and familiarity. She found joy in tending to her plants, especially her succulents, and expressed her creativity through journaling, calligraphy, and drawing. Her inner world was whimsical, colorful, and full of curiosity.

In addition to her devotion at home, Minnie took great pride in her professional life. She spent 15 years as an executive assistant at Sony, where she was admired for her diligence, kindness, and dependability. Whether in the workplace or within her family, she had a natural ability to make life easier for others.

Minnie Rizl is survived by her loving mother, Minerva Laset; her sisters, Minnie Liza Laser and Minnie Aizl Coley; her husband, Eric Murallon; her children, Michael Erickson, Rizelle Azzia, and Liam Chaze; and her son-in-law, Jimmy Manikhong. Each carries forward her spirit, resilience, and boundless capacity for love.

Though Minnie Rizl has left this earthly life, her legacy remains deeply rooted. It lives on in the hearts she touched, the meals she shared, the traditions she upheld, and the care she offered without hesitation. She will be remembered for her giving nature, her instinct to nurture everyone around her, and her rare ability to make the world feel softer simply by being in it.

As we gather to celebrate her memory, we invite you to attend the viewing at Valley Cremation Service - Lambs Fellowship Chapel in Lake Elsinore, CA on February 20, 2026, from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM.
