James Quinton Horn passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 17th, 2025. He was 73 years old and was currently living in Menifee, CA. He was born on January 31st, 1952, in Downey, CA to parents Thomas and Joy Horn. He grew up in Norwalk, CA and graduated from Sierra High School in 1969. He attended University of California Irvine and graduated on March 23rd, 1979, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama. He had a long career with the Social Security Administration, starting as a Service Representative in Downey, CA in 1974 and retiring as a Supervisory Paralegal Specialist in 2013. He married Mary Ann Bickford on January 5th, 1980 in Santa Monica, CA. On August 30th, 1989 in Portland, OR they welcomed their only child, Amy Arline Horn into the world. 

He was a history buff and was known for talking your ear off about it as well as politics and many other subjects. He was a nature lover and could almost always tell you what kind of flower or tree you were looking at. After moving to Oregon in 1983 he developed his lifelong love and fascination with learning about and foraging for mushrooms. He was always the cook in the household and loved all types of foods and trying new recipes and experiments. He was a lifelong fan of the Angels baseball team and enjoyed going to baseball games whenever he could. He was a music lover and for a number of years he sang with the Eugene Concert Choir. He also loved Art and would always make a point to go to the art museums in any city he was visiting. He was known for his belly laugh and sometimes wicked sense of humor. He was kind and thoughtful and known for his generosity.

He is survived by his wife, Mary and daughter, Amy. He is also survived by his brother John, his sister Jandre and nephews Hartley, Tom and Nate. 

There will be a Mass held in celebration of his life at 1PM on January 30th, 2026 at St. Vincent Ferrer Church in Sun City, CA
